Notary Public Exam Prep
LSU Alexandria Continuing Education is a resource for Louisiana residents who wish to take a preparatory course in advance of taking the Notary Public Exam.

List of Dates for the Notary Prep Class (please note the class will meet on Thursday night, with the exception of one class):

March: 2, 9, 16, 30

April: 6, 13, 25 

May: 4, 11, 18 

Time:  5:30-8:00 PM 

The authority for all information and specifics regarding the Notary Public Exam is the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office. 

Although the information listed below is intended to provide helpful assistance with information related to the Notary Public Exam, the information could change without notice and LSU Alexandria strongly recommends that you verify all information regarding the Notary Public Exam through the appropriate contacts with the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office.

Exam Format: The Notary Public exam is now a state-wide exam. The exam consists of the following:

Part I – Scenario Component

Part II – Multiple Choice Component

Required textbook for this course: THIS BOOK IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE COST OF THE COURSE.

1.  “Fundamentals of Louisiana Notarial Law and Practice.” . Available through The Louisiana Secretary of State Web Site

Attendance Requirements: 

Participants must attend at least 90% of the course to receive a “Certificate of Completion”. It is imperative you attend each class due to the amount of course content.

Course Cancellation Policy:

Class may be cancelled due to lack of enrollment, weather, etc. At least two (2) business days prior to a class start date, a decision will be made as to whether or not there are enough participants registered to hold the course, or if it is to be cancelled/postponed. In such a case, participants are notified by telephone or e-mail with information about new schedules, refunds, etc.

Student Cancellation and Refund Policy:

A student must withdraw in writing in order to drop a Continuing Education Course. If a student withdraws in writing two (2) business days prior to the course start date, a 50% refund will be issued. As an alternative to a refund, the full fee may be applied to a future course within the same semester if notification is received in writing 2 business days before the course begins. No refunds or transfers will be issued once a course begins. LSUA reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment. If such cancellation occurs, a 100% course and registration fee (if applicable) refund will be issued.
